What to Expect
Launch from Tata Beach in our sturdy double kayaks with routes and tips in hand. Camp under kanuka or on golden sand. Paddle through limestone coves, watch the playful seals, and follow ancient waka pathways at your leisure. Your adventure, your timing, with safety and support behind every stroke.
You are responsible for your own safety and our equipment during the rental period. Sea kayaking has associated risks. Our requirements are:
Minimum number of two people.
Stable double kayaks are provided, for that extra person we do have singles available.
You need to be water confident and have paddling experience.
You need to be comfortable in an outdoor environment, understand how to read a map and understand how to look after yourself in the outdoors.

⛺Two Days kayaking, One night camping at Taupo Point -

What to Expect
Set out from Tata Beach and paddle to Taupo Point — voted the best beach in Abel Tasman and a popular choice for honeymooners. The route is gentle and accessible, with limestone headlands, seabirds, and seal colonies along the way. At day’s end, set up camp on golden sand beneath native bush, watch the sunset over the bay, and fall asleep under a starlit sky. In the morning, wake to the dawn chorus and a peaceful paddle back.
Camping is amongst Kanuka trees or on the beach. No fires are permitted.
There is no running water
There are toilet facilities
Absolutely NO fires

Glide off the golden sand at Tata Beach, following the northern coastline toward Separation Point, home to seal colonies and dramatic headlands. Along the way, you’ll pass untouched bays and beaches that few ever visit. Camp at remote DOC sites such as Waiharakeke, Mutton Cove, or Anapai — each offering golden sand, native bush, and quiet evenings. This trip is for those wanting a deeper sense of wilderness while still enjoying the safety and support of our team.

The Northern End of the Abel Tasman National Park not only the more remote, quieter end. When booking your campsites on the Department of Conservation website use the dropdown from Wainui to Marahau.
Waiharakeke - Wharawharangi Hut and campsite, the first camping area that you will come too.
Mutton Cove - Tucked around the corner from Separation Point, this is a fabulous campsite.
Anapai - Just a little further from Mutton Cove, the native bush surrounding this little campsite is magical.
Remember to book your campsite with the Department of Conservation. For this trip, Mutton Cove is recommended (paddle time to Mutton Cove is 3-4hr).
Pick up is at Totaranui Campground at a pre arranged time.
START: Briefing at 8.30am at Tata Beach on the day of departure
FINISH: Pick up is from the Totaranui Campground. Pick up time is arranged before you leave Tata Beach. We bring you back by vehicle to Tata Beach.

What to Expect
Begin at Tata Beach and paddle the whole Abel Tasman coastline. Over 3–5 days, you will explore quiet bays, golden beaches, and limestone headlands. You choose the pace: paddle further or rest longer. Each night, camp at DOC campsites along the coast — sleeping under the stars, waking to birdsong, and enjoying the peace of nature. Our team will give you a full briefing, maps, and safety gear so you feel prepared and supported.
⚠️ Minimum of 2 people required. Outdoor experience is necessary and preferred.
