Day/Hourly Freedom Hire

Freedom Kayak Adventures from Tata Beach, gateway to the Northern end of the Abel Tasman National Park.

 

Kayaks and Stand Up Paddle boards available by the hour,half day and full day.

  • Explore Tata Islands (start of Abel Tasman National Park).  Home to New Zealands largest colony of spotted shags nesting in the limestone cliffs.
  • Paddle  around awesome rock formations at Abel Tasman Point, including archways and caves.
  • Cruise into Wainui lagoon (high tide) or Wainui Bay, where you can look for stingrays and other sea life.
  • Picnic or sunbathe on gorgeous secluded beaches or continue along the National Park coastline as far as Taupo Point.

 

What to bring: Warm windproof top, swimming costume, towel, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, drink, snack or lunch, camera (water proof bag will be provided). Shorts and shoes that can get wet (no jeans).

Note: Families and kayakers with no previous experience will be given safety instruction, safety gear and maps. Dry bags are available at no extra charge.

 

  • For those who want a friendly experienced guide who will fill you in on local history, show you some interesting hidden spots and help look after your safety, our Half Day Guided Tour is available.
  • Kayaks can be used to visit other beaches or estuaries (e.g. Totaranui, Wanganui Inlet) for day or multi day hire.
  • We have sit-on-tops available. These are especially suitable for children.
  • Stand up Paddle Boards: the sport, creating waves around the world, has arrived at Tata Beach
