Taste the Abel Tasman
Paddling from Pohara to Taupo Point includes the following attractions;
- The coffee ship at Tarakohe Harbour. Jaques Cousteau's old ship operating as a funky coffee cafe - highly
recommended.
- Tata Islands (start of Abel Tasman Park) with bird life including NZ's largest spotted shag colony.
- Abel Tasman Point- stunning rock formations, archways, seals most of the year.
- Numerous golden sand secluded beaches to stop off at on the way.
- Wainui lagoon to explore (possible stingray sitings)
Taupo Point itself is a fantastic place to camp and has been described as one of the most beautiful beaches
in Abel Tasman. As a bonus it is likely to be very uncrowded and you may find you are the only ones camping
there.
