Safety Briefing For Multi Day Hire
Freedom rental customers are fully responsible for their own safety, and the equipment hired, once they set out.
Therefore each customer must be able to wet exit from a kayak with a spray skirt attached (we will teach you how
to in the safety briefing). If you have not done a wet exit in the water previously then we may do one as part
of the safety briefing. In this case it is preferable to do this the day before you set off (this also allows
you an early start).
Each
group must have at least one person who has had previous experience with the sea, and the outdoors, over an extended
period of time. We do not rent to solo paddlers for safety reasons. Most customers will paddle in our large, comfortable,
stable, double kayaks as single kayaks will only be rented to very experienced paddlers. Minimum age for multi
day sea kayak rental is 14 years.
Allow 2 to 4 hours on the first day for safety briefing and packing
the kayaks. Preferably most of the safety briefing can be done on
the previous day, allowing you an early start on your rental day.
As part of the safety briefing, we paddle the first part of the trip
with you to answer any further questions you may have, to assess your
capabilities, and to see you safely on your way.
